Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a side-scrolling platformer game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. The game is the fifth installment in the Donkey Kong Country series and is the direct sequel to the 2010 Wii game, Donkey Kong Country Returns.

In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the evil Snowmads have invaded Donkey Kong Island and have frozen it over, leaving Donkey Kong and his friends with no other option but to travel to the Northern Isles in order to save their home. Players take control of Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and Cranky Kong, as they traverse through six different islands and battle against the Snowmads.

The game features the same classic side-scrolling platforming action of the previous Donkey Kong Country games, with players running, jumping, and swinging their way through various levels while collecting bananas and other items. The game also features new power-ups, such as the Kong Pow which allows players to break through obstacles, and the Rocket Barrel which allows players to fly through levels.
